These courses are being conducted for more than 10 years with a view to impart surgical trainees with some of the necessary skills. For the last 4 years, the venue was the Surgical Skills Lab, ESIC Medical College, Sanat Nagar, Hyderabad by the initiative of Dr Srinivas, Former Director of ESICMC and presently Director of AIIMS, New Delhi. The courses are conducted with the help of Faculty and staff of Department of General Surgery, ESIC Medical College.
Anastomosis Workshop
Aim of the Anastomosis Workshop is to give the participants "Hands on" experience of doing intestinal anastomosis using animal intestines. You will be doing 2 or 3 anastomosis using different techniques. Various types of stapling devises will be demonstrated and instructions in using the staplers is given.
This course is suitable for 3rd year MS/DNB Trainees in General Surgery

Sheep/Pig/Cow intestine (depending on availability) procured from the
abattoir will be used in the workshop.
At the end of the course you would have a sound theoretical knowledge of performing various types of intestinal anastomosis and gain confidence in performing the anastomosis.
Basic Laparoscopic Course
Aim of the Basic Laparoscopic Course is to introduce participants to "Minimal Access Surgery". Didactic lectures will be given on various aspects of minimal access surgery and equipment will be demonstrated. You will be practicing on the Endo-trainers various tasks to improve the hand eye coordination.
This course is suitable for 2nd and 3rd year MS/DNB Trainees in General Surgery

At the end of the course you would have a sound theoretical knowledge of "Minimal Access Surgery" and would improve your hand eye coordination. As the name suggests, this is a "Basic" course. You would need further mentoring before performing laparoscopy on patients.
